Running back Albert Young, who played for the Minnesota Vikings for three seasons, has left the ranks of the National Football League to take a job as an assistant coach at the University of Colorado.
Young, who signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Iowa in 2008, spent the 2008 season on the Vikings' practice squad, and spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons on the Vikings' active roster. He didn't see a whole lot of playing time in either of those years. He appeared in a total of ten games for the Vikings over those two seasons (three in 2009 and seven in 2010). He carried the ball 25 times for 82 yards as a member of the Vikings, and also added two receptions for 11 yards.
In going to Colorado, he joins the man that used to coach him in Minnesota. Prior to the 2011 season, former Vikings' running backs coach Eric Bieniemy left the team to take the job of offensive coordinator with the Buffaloes under their new head coach, Jon Embree.
Congratulations to Albert Young on his new position, and we wish him the best with the University of Colorado.
