6 who defied order to cover up at Grammys

By Anna Chan, TODAY

Rules are made to be broken, right? CBS may have sent out a memo to Grammy talent saying sideboob and other "fleshy" bits were not welcome at the telecast and must be covered up, but more than a few stars decided to ignore the note in the name of fashion. Very sexy fashion.

Here are six celebs who flaunted their bits and the violations they racked up:

Rihanna
The "Umbrella" singer sizzled in a custom Azzedine Alaia dress that for her was demure, but she still broke several of CBS' rules. The sheerness of her gown, which the network warned against, put on display the "problematic" "curvature of the breasts." And although not visible in this photo (check out our red carpet slideshow), the back of her dress went low enough that it almost exposed her "buttock crack," another no-no. The network didn't say anything about showing off tattoos that are in areas often covered by bathing suits, though.

Kat Dennings
The "Two Broke Girls" star is rather well endowed, and unless she were wearing a turtleneck, she probably would've broken CBS' no-cleavage rule no matter what she wore.

Katy Perry
The "Firework" singer and John Mayer's current love squeezed herself into a skin-tight Gucci gown that showed off every inch of her fab body, including the "puffy" exposure in the "genital region." (Is that a Spanx outline we see?) And obviously, her chest is not exactly "adequately covered" -- hello, "bare sides and under curvature of the breasts" -- as CBS requested.

Natasha Bedingfield
The British songstress looks lovely in an Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan gown, and at first glance, she seems appropriately covered up, as far as CBS standards go. Or is she? We can't tell for sure whether or not the chest area is appropriately lined, but if not, she could've broken one of the network's big no-no's: possible exposure of " female breast nipples." But as it is, she's exposing some "side and under curvature." Oh my!

Alicia Keys
The "Girl on Fire" songstress was on fire herself, with a fierce performance of her hit tune that included her playing the drums. Unfortunately, all that action in her slinky black dress with the fishnet cutouts nearly led to a wardrobe malfunction, as her "under curvature" started to make an appearance during her act with Maroon 5.?

Kelly Rowland
The former Destiny's Child member looked fantastic in a cutout gown by Georges Chakra Couture, but boy, did she ignore the CBS memo or what?! The sexy black frock broke almost every one of the network's "please cover up" guidelines, from the boobage to the sheerness to the "puffy bare skin."?Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it -- and the rules!
