2 Popular Weight Loss Diets

There are plenty of weight loss diets that are available in the market. The 2 popular ones are:

1. Low Fat
This method concentrates on taking less fat in your meals. The source of food which have little or no fat and foods are from:

a) Cereal foods
b) Fruit, vegetables and nuts
c) Fish
d) Meat
e) Eggs, dairy foods
f) Drinks and soups

Because fat is energy dense, it contains the most calories. For every gram of fat it provides 9 calories while protein provides only 4 calories and carbohydrate provides 3.75 calories.

In a nutshell, to reduce the calorie intake you need to reduce your fat intake. However your body will still need to have certain fats to function.

Two fatty acids that you need in your weight loss diets are Omega-6s and Omega 3s. These fatty acids are essential for protection against certain diseases, for your growth and make your skin healthy.

2. High Protein or Low Carb
These methods do not have much carbohydrate. These weight loss diets contain more protein and fat for losing weight. The recommended amount of calories from protein is somewhere between 30 to 40 percent.

The source of protein can be found from:
a) Fish
b) Pork
c) Hamburger patty
d) Steak
e) Chicken thigh and wing, and
f) most peanuts

Foods which have high carbohydrates such as pasta and breads are taken in a very limited quantity in this method.

By limiting the amount of carbohydrates intake, the body starts to burn fat for energy. Apart from fat burning, there are side effects such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue and bad breath.

Whatever weight loss diets that you may follow, it is imperative that you lower your calorie intake to a certain level so that an energy deficit is created, and your body starts to use its fat stores for the supply of the extra energy it needs to function properly.
